Hi my name is Renée Asselin and my husband is Tony Miceli. Our 4 year old son Nikolas, also known as Niko, was diagnosed with a brain tumor on February 20, 2010, three weeks before his 4th birthday. The surgeon at CHEO was able to remove the tumor but some malignant particles have spread to his spine.
As you can imagine, his life has changed completely. His days are now spent at the hospital receiving treatments instead of playing with his family and friends. Also, he will not be able to start junior kindergarten this fall because of additional treatments that he will require, which will compromise his immune system.
Today I am asking for your generous help so Tony, myself, and our 5 year old son Matthew, can be with Niko when he goes to Montreal for four months to receive his chemotherapy and stem cell transplant. Unfortunately, these advanced treatments cannot be conducted here in Ottawa, therefore our family will need to be uprooted and we will need to find accommodation close to the hospital.
I am asking you for your prayers and thoughts so that Niko can have a speedy recovery and resume his life as a joyful, healthy, and happy child. In addition, if you wish to support us in our journey, as well as cheer Niko on during this vital experience towards his recovery, you can buy one of Nikolas' bracelets: "Go Niko Go".
I thank you for your generous gift and support and may God bless you.
With warmest regards,
Renée
